Steve is an accomplished educator, psychotherapist, group facilitator, and consultant with over twenty-five years of experience. He is dedicated to helping clients manage stress through his unique approach of training them in a mindfulness practice that enables them to increase self-awareness, concentration, clarity of perception, performance, and stress resilience ― much as weight training increases muscle mass and aerobic training develops cardiovascular fitness.
In 1994 and 1995 he pioneered the first hospital-based Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program in Southern California at University of California, San Diego Medical School. Steve was the founder, senior instructor, and director of the of the highly successful Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program of the Scripps Health Care System in San Diego, California, from 1995 to 2005. He draws on his vast experience and knowledge to help clients discover how to mobilize and strengthen their innate, inner resources to successfully manage day-to-day stresses.
Steve provides stress management programs and mindfulness trainings to thousands of executives and professionals in a broad range of corporate, academic, non-profit, behavioral health, and public agency settings including
